Spending a little time for yourself sounds so good! But what exactly is “me time”? Is this a selfish use of your time? Not at all. “Me time” is taking time to focus on yourself in order to wind down, reboot, take a much needed mental and emotional break, and build up your self-worth. And you are definitely worth it!
Taking care of yourself is a healthy action. A lot of us are taking care of others to the exclusion of ourselves. Yet, to help take care of others better you need to be happy and healthy. You need a little time for yourself. You need some “Me Time”.

WHY IT HELPS WITH STRESS
Taking 5 or 10 minutes out of your routine allows your body and mind to take a break and breathe a little easier. By focusing on an action that feels good, your body produces the hormones dopamine, serotonin, and endorphins. When these positive hormones start to increase, it lowers your blood pressure, your heart & breathing rate, and assists with depression. In other words, you feel less stressed. What’s not to love with this feel-good cocktail of hormones.

Of course, you don’t have to restrict your time to just 5 or 10 minutes. You can definitely go for more if you have the time for it. But with under 10 minutes of time blocked out (you can set an alarm on your gadget to make sure you don’t go overtime) it’s much easier to fit it into your day. In this case, a little really does go a long way. After those 10 minutes, you may have an extra little bounce in your step.
Once in a while, take a 30-minute break, 1 hour break, half a day break, or a full day of enjoying what makes you happy and at ease. The benefit to you and your health is a beautiful, wonderful experience.
